It really hurts is to be driving around and seeing decks that are just literally left out to rot. We have been able to prove that when you have a clean area like a deck or a patio you are going to end up taking more advantage of it. Sadly, it only takes a couple of months of abandonment for you to not want to step foot in those areas again. The longer they go without the proper care the less likely it is that you will ever “rescue” these areas. Proper washing can help slow down deterioration and decay and allow you to take full advantage of your home.
Wash Then Recoat
We have talked about this in other areas of the site. The first step to any home remodeling project is going to be to give the area a thorough cleaning. For a lot of decks that we find around here, this is going to be totally necessary. What we are going to do is make sure that we are able to remove all of the dust and dirt from the surface. This is usually going to be done by pressure washing the surface. The idea behind this is to allow you to then get a clear look at the current state of the deck itself. So that from there you can decide to repaint or repair certain areas.
How Often Should I Have It Cleaned?
There is one thing that we want to clear up before we answer the question that we posted above. Our cleaning services are not always going to be able to substitute your routine cleaning efforts entirely. Unless you want us to. So, if you are not looking to clean the area on your own at all having our guys come by once a month or so could be a good idea. If you are going to make an effort to keep the area clean then the visits could be more spread out.
Giving The Deck A Good Scrubbing
We have talked about this a lot throughout the site. What we do is a lot more complex than just taking a hose and spraying water all over the place. When it comes to decks we are usually going to have to put a lot of effort into the washing process because we are going to need to get down and actually scrub the different parts to make sure that we are getting all of the dirt out. We are a company that is used to going the extra mile for our clients what else can we really say!
Is Cleaning Worth It?
This is actually a tougher dilemma than most people realize. People may come to the conclusion that they are going to need to repair the whole deck anyway so why clean it right? We have seen that a lot of times this is what sparks the process of leaving a deck unattended. You decide not to clean it, but then you also take a long time to repair it. We suggest that you have the deck cleaned then decide what you are going to do with it!
